1. Democrat Janet Mills won the governor’s race early Wednesday, becoming Maine’s first woman to hold the office. With 386 out of 574 precincts reporting, Mills had 51 percent of the vote to Republican Shawn Moody’s 43 percent. (Press Herald)

3. The Democrats took control of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, while the GOP kept the Senate. Democrats flipped at least 25 House seats in previously Republican-controlled districts. The GOP increased its majority control in the Senate by ousting Democrats in Indiana, North Dakota and Missouri. (AP News)

4. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested seven people in Rumford and Mexico on Monday on drug trafficking charges, and seized $35,000 worth of cocaine, heroin and oxycodone pills along with $20,000 in suspected drug proceeds. The arrests included seven Maine residents and followed a monthlong investigation, according to a release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland. (WGME)
