1. After U.S. Sen. Susan Collins voted early Saturday morning in support of the Republican bill to overhaul the tax code, some Mainers broke out in protest over the weekend, calling Collins’ vote a betrayal. With news that Collins had voted overnight in support of the bill, more gathered across the state, including at the Bangor International Airport, in case Collins flew home from Washington, D.C. Voters stood with their backs turned, claiming “Her vote turned her back on ME.” (BDN)

2. CVS is buying health insurance giant Aetna, the companies announced Sunday. If approved, the $69 billion acquisition — $77 billion including debt — would drastically remap the health care industry. CVS Health (CVS)is a massive drugstore chain and prescription drug insurer, while Aetna (AET) is one of the nation’s largest health insurers. (CVS)

3. Hundreds of Santa Clauses descended on Portland’s Old Port Saturday night. The 10th SantaCon drew a huge crowd of people in their best Santa Claus apparel, enjoying a holiday bar crawl and a Monument Square gathering complete with Christmas carols. Participants enjoyed the evening and donated money for Family Crisis Services in Portland. (WGME)

4. Pat Ricard, a former defensive lineman at the University of Maine, scored his first NFL touchdown on Sunday for the Baltimore Ravens. Ricard caught the three-yard pass from quarterback Joe Flacco in the second quarter against the Detroit Lions. (WCSH)

5. “Stranger Things” has been renewed for a third season at Netflix, the streaming service announced Friday. The first season proved to be a major sleeper hit, generating positive reviews and garnering 18 Emmy nominations, of which it won five. Both seasons currently hold a 94 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. (Variety)
