As many of you may already know, a deadly tornado hit the Oklahoma City area around 3pm yesterday (Monday). The storm struck near Newcastle only 16 minutes after the first tornado warnings went out from the National Weather Service. Throughout the storm numerous buildings were struck including two schools: Plaza Towers and Briarwood Elementary.
Betsey Randolph a highway patrol trooper said in an interview:
“I’m talking everywhere you looked, the debris field was so high, and so far and so wide, wounded people walking around the streets, they were bloody; there were people that had stuff sticking out of them from things that were flying round in the air. There were cars crumpled up like little toys and thrown on top of buildings. Buildings that were two and three stories tall were leveled…”
Although Oklahoma City currently looks like a scene out of the movie Twister, with “horses and stuff flying around everywhere” they are a tough state and have faith they will be able to pull through!
All of us here at Hot104.7 are sending out positive thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by the tornado yesterday.
